In groups you have 3 minutes to see how many of these French phrases you can remember. J'ai Tu as Il a Elle a J'aime Je n'aimes pas Aimes-tu?

Who got the most right? J'ai Tu as Il a Elle a J'aime Je n'aimes pas de… Aimes-tu? I have You have He has She has I like I do not like… Do you like?

What happens if we add a noun? J'ai Tu as Il a Elle a J'aime Je n'aimes pas de… Aimes-tu? un chien

J'ai un chien. Tu as un chien? Il a un chien. Elle a un chien. I have a dog. Do you have a dog? He has a dog. She has a dog.

These are slightly different – look carefully at what has happened to the ‘un’ which means ‘a’. J'aime les chiens. Je n'aimes pas les chiens. Aimes-tu les chiens? I like dogs. I don’t like dogs. Do you like dogs? But what happened to the word ‘a’ in the English sentences?

In groups, try making up some sentences of your own by changing ‘un chien’ to another word in French: J'ai un chien. Tu as un chien. Il a un chien. Elle a un chien. J'aime les chiens. Je n'aimes pas les chiens. Aimes-tu les chiens? I have a dog. You have a dog. He has a dog. She has a dog. I like dogs. I do not like dogs. Do you like dogs?
