An INDIRECT OBJECT is the person who receives the DIRECT OBJECT the person who benefits from the action of the verb. She bakes a cake for Maria. He gives Lucas the bread. El comerciante le vende calculadoras a las secretarias.

An INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUN can be used to replace the INDIRECT OBJECT. She reads the children a book. Ella les lee un libro. We give Rita a pizza. Nosotros le damos una pizza. I tell you the phone number. Yo te digo el teléfono.

An INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUN can also be used with the INDIRECT OBJECT so that the statement is clear. She reads the children a book. Ella les lee un libro a los niños. We give Rita a pizza. Nosotros le damos una pizza a Rita. I tell you the phone number. Yo te digo el número de teléfono (a ti).
