Data Quality Monitoring for CMS RPC A. Cimmino, D. Lomidze P. Noli, M. Maggi, P. Paolucci

Data Quality Monitor - RPC italy 2 2 maggio 2007 RPC DQM requirements I DQM has to monitor the RPC detector/trigger behavior and measure and summarize their performances: Online monitoring in FF: pre-scaled subset of LV1 muon events (rate ?) delay is 0 ? CMS CPUs (how many ?) Online monitoring in event consumer: pre-scaled subset of LV1 muon events (rate ?) Full use of DCS and XDAQ data via DB RPC CPUs (to design) delay ? seconds ?

Data Quality Monitor - RPC italy 3 2 maggio 2007 RPC DQM requirements II Quasi-online: LV1 muon events DCS and XDAQ access via Condition DB RPC CPUs delay of minutes ? Offline monitoring: for RPC experts to have a full analysis Using full events and reconstruction tools using DBs CMS CPus delay ? hours ?

Data Quality Monitor - RPC italy 4 2 maggio 2007 Event Data monitoring MTCC I DQM-analysis packages developed for RPC in CMSSW and test during the MTCC: EventFilter/RPCRawToDigi (Segoni - Maggi): It drives the raw data unpacking and produces the RPCDigi collection committed to the event. DQM/RPCMonitorModule (Segoni – Maggi): it carries out data integrity check and basic detector functioning tasks POOL Source Raw Data Digi Unpacker DAQ Clusters/RecHits Local Muon Reconstruction RPCMonitorDigi RPCMonitorModule Event

Data Quality Monitor - RPC italy 5 2 maggio 2007 Event Data monitoring MTCC II DQM/RPCMonitorDigi: Uses the digi produced by the unpacker (i.e. for each h-partition the collection strip with signal and the BX ) to perform chamber performance checks: BXN # of digi Occupancy Cluster multiplicity Cluster size Sync: Specific trigger studies Chamber efficiency is produced by extrapolating DT segments to the RPC mounted on the same DT chamber and looking for matching hits

Data Quality Monitor - RPC italy 7 2 maggio 2007 Where we are now Source: We are now able to make plots/histos/results in the old style. Define which plots/histos/results we want and how make them How to access the online DB ? How and where store the results ? Official Document to write !!

Data Quality Monitor - RPC italy 8 2 maggio 2007 GUI Status We are using IGUANA (is the final CMS choice ??) We can run GUI and connect to Collector We can take data from collector and display them Configuration file for GUI layouts; it’s an automatic way to divide, display and show only the histograms which are interesting Alarm Plugin; to make color histograms and text messages using with ROOT classes in case of Errors, Warnings or Other Reports. For the moment It’s working well with “virtual” errors or warnings

Data Quality Monitor - RPC italy 11 2 maggio 2007 Conclusion We now have more people able to work in all the aspects of the Data Quality Monitor We are following the CMS decisions regarding the GUI and the way to access the online and offline DB. We have to write an official document about the RPC DQM with our requirements and with the results we would like to monitor and store.
