This presentation is about Andrzej Wajda- famous Polish film director!

Andrzej Wajda He was born in Suwałki in 1926. He was studying Art in Cracow and in a Film High School in Łódź. His first film was Pokolenie (Generation). Andrzej Wajda directs also the theatre plays.

Oscar On 2nd of April 2000 Andrzej Wajda got an Oscar prize for his film output. It was the first Oscar prize for Polish film director.

Theatre Andrzej Wajda loves theatre.As well as films he directs theatre plays. He said that his work at theatre makes he feels better. It always needs a lot of work but effects are really great. He also directs performances for TV called television theatre.

Writer Wajda also writes some books. Here are some of them: Powtórka z cało ś ci (Revision of all) Podwójne spojrzenie (The double stare) Kino i reszta ś wiata (Cinema and the rest of the world) Wajda o polityce, sztuce, o sobie (Wajda about politics, art and himself)

Painter Wajda studied on the Art Academy in Cracow. I want to show you some of his paintings. They are very interesting, arent they?

Hobbies Andrzej Wajda is crazy about Japan. During the German occupation he saw the extibition oh Japanese art. It was the first time he could see something about Japan but he started to be very interested in it. Many years later when his films became well- known he got Kyoto Prize which is a very important Japanese prize. He got a lot of money and he decided to built the Japanese Museum in Cracow.
