2. This disease is caused by the presence of sometimes all or part of a third copy of chromosome 21. It is usually known with physical growth delays, characristics facial features, and some intellectual disability. Down Syndrome is the most common chromosome abnormality. ABOUT DOWN SYNDROME

3. Down Syndrome is not sex linked it’s a mutation in the chromosomes. There is still no medication for Down Syndrome but scientist are working on making medicine. They claim that even if they can’t find a cure they can help make the disease affect them less. Screening shots can estimate the percentage that you're child could get Down Syndrome.

4. Genetic counseling is not an option for kids with Down Syndrome. The reason for this is because Down Syndrome is not a disease that is passed on it’s a mutation when one extra chromosome is added. GENETIC COUNSELING

5. Exact cause of the extra chromosome that triggers Down Syndrome is unknown. There are more than 400,000 people living with Down Syndrome in the US. It is estimated that about 5,000 children are born with Down Syndrome in the US only. Roughly 25 % of families in the US are affected by Down Syndrome. FUN FACTS
