HDBaseT RJ45 CONNECTOR HDBaseT delivers full HD / 3D and 2K / 4K uncompressed video. Since video is passed through the HDMI chipset, HDBaseT supports all key HDMI 1.4 features, CEC, EDID, and HDCP. Audio passed through directly from the HDMI chipset: Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS HD-Master Audio. 100Mb Ethernet Control: CEC, IR, RS232

ONE CAT5/6 HDBaseT METHOD BY KEY DIGITAL HDBaseT TX decodes all HDMI data types such as TMDS, HDCP, EDID, CEC, HPD into its original baseband data format. Because of re-clocking the jitter is removed. This HDMI data plus External IR, RS232 and Ethernet is packetized in a single high speed data stream and modulated by Dynamic multi level 16PAM+ Modulator with multiple, per data type, bit- rate/error-resistance tradeoffs 16 PAM (Pulse Amplitude Modulation) is a variation of standard 10GbaseT Ethernet modulation system HDbaseT 16PAM+ modulator specifically designed to work with HDMI and control data types giving specific bit/error-resistance trade offs for various data types. o This method creates a Video centric Forward Error Correction mechanism needed for longer cable runs Standard HDBaseT cable length is 300 feet for 1080p/60 signal that is double compare to conventional TMDS based two cables extenders With special Firmware KD-CATHD500FW these extenders can reach 600 feet with special CAT6STP for resolutions 1080i, 1080p/24, 720p, 480p, 480i

PAM16 THEORY - TMDS COMPARISON A 8 bit modulator (PAM16) will take 8 bits at a time and will map the signal amplitude to one of 16 possible levels 15,13,11,9,7,5,3,1,-1,-3,- 5,-7,-9,-11,-13,-15 Demodulation is performed by detecting the amplitude level of the carrier at every symbol period More data in PAM16 is available then in TMDS because PAM uses various amplitudes for different bits while TMDS only has two amplitude states: 1 or 0 The clock of HDbaseT is slower then TMDS allowing greater distance and reliability 15 13 11 9 7 5 3 1 -3 -5 -7 -9 -11 -13 -15 t A 1 0 PAM16 TMDS +7 -11 +15 -7 0 0 1 0 1

WHAT IS SUCH A BIG DEAL ABOUT THE RE- CLOCK? During conversion of TMDS and DDC to completely different format PAM16+ the actual information has to be extracted, cleaned and restarted from a brand new clock o TMDS jitter removed o DDC jitter removed During conversion from PAM16+ back to TMDS the process of jitter removal happens again! By the nature of PAM16+ to and from TMDS conversions the HDMI signal on the output of HDbaseT Rx is as clean as directly from the source. The jitter that ALWAYS accumulates in twisted pairs through TMDS or PAM16 or any other method is thoroughly removed due to double re-clocking

CAT6 better then CAT5e – higher bandwidth o 1080p/60/12bit o 4Kx2K o Longer distance STP better then UTP o Blocks interference from the outside of cable Interference can create “sparkling” o Unification of the ground between Tx and Rx For long runs ground can be substantially different and floating o Grounding cable shield to the shielded connector is a must o Use products providing chassis ground connection to the shielded connector Shielded individual pair is better then not shielded in the STP cable o Blocks interference from the inside of the cable o Inside interference is consistent
