Types of Concrete Foundations
2
Concrete Piers Foundation This type of foundation is mostly used on buildings with post & beam style construction. It is important to have the pier under each supporting wall post. Pole barns may also be built with this type of foundation to protect posts from rotting. Also known as post and beam foundations
3
Monolithic Also known as a Slab-On-Grade Foundation and sometimes referred to as a Floating Slab. Mostly used in warmer climates where ground does not freeze and also in rocky areas when it's hard or impossible to drill holes or dig trenches below the frost line. Also, often used for smaller buildings and sheds.
4
Conventional Foundation This type of foundation is more expensive to do, but may be used in different construction applications. This foundation can be used for barns, garages, houses and for many other buildings. Provides a very sturdy frost protected foundation.
5
Pile and Girder The walls are supported by a column of reinforced concrete, or steel, drilled into the ground. The depth and frequency of beams depend very much on the type of ground below the building, and the building size. Piles may also be required for internal load bearing walls.
