5
Greeting Celebrant:Blessed be the Holy Trinity, one God, the fountain of living water, the rock who gave us birth, our light and our salvation. All:Amen.
6
Reading 2 Corinthians 5:14-6:10 A Moment of Silence
7
Renewal of Vows Celebrant:Joined to Christ in the waters of baptism, We are clothed with God’s mercy and forgiveness. Let us give thanks for the gift of baptism. Water is poured into the font as the Celebrant gives thanks: We give you thanks, O God, for in the beginning your Spirit moved over the waters and by your Word you created the world, calling forth life in which you took delight.
8
Through the waters of the flood you delivered Noah and his family. Through the seas you led your people Israel from slavery into freedom. At the river your Son was baptized by John and anointed with the Holy Spirit. By water and your Word you claim us as daughters and sons, Making us heirs of your promise and servants of all.
9
We praise you for the gift of water that sustains human life, and above all we praise you for the gift of new life in Jesus Christ. Shower us with your Spirit, and renew our lives with your forgiveness, grace, and love. Now sanctify this water by the power of your Holy Spirit, that those who are here cleansed from sin and born again, may continue for ever in the risen life of Jesus Christ our Saviour. All:Amen.
10
Celebrant: Do you reaffirm your renunciation of evil and renew your commitment to Jesus Christ? All: I do. Celebrant:Do you believe in God the Father? All: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
11
Celebrant:Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God? All: I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
12
He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
13
Celebrant:Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit? All:I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
14
Celebrant:Will you continue in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers? All: I will, with God’s help. Celebrant:Will you persevere in resisting evil and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord? All:I will, with God’s help.
15
Celebrant: Will you proclaim by word and example the good news of God in Christ? All: I will, with God’s help. Celebrant: Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbour as yourself? All: I will, with God’s help.
16
Celebrant: Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being? All:I will, with God’s help. Celebrant: Will you strive to safeguard the integrity of God’s creation, and respect, sustain and renew the life of the Earth? All:I will, with God’s help. People are invited to come forward and bless themselves with water in a manner comfortable for them as the assembly sings.
17
Wash, O God, Your Sons and Daughters Wash, O God, your sons and daughters, where your cleansing waters flow. Number them among your people; bless as Christ blessed long ago. Weave them garments bright and sparkling; compass them with love and light. Fill, anoint them; send your Spirit, holy dove and heart’s delight.
18
We who bring them long for nurture; by your milk may we be fed. Let us join your feast, partaking cup of blessing, living bread. God, renew us, guide our footsteps; free from sin and all its snares, one with Christ in living, dying, by your Spirit, children, heirs.
19
Oh, how deep your holy wisdom! Unimagined, all your ways! To your name be glory, honour! With our lives we worship, praise! We your people stand before you, water-washed and Spirit-born. By your grace, our lives we offer. Recreate us; God, transform!
20
I Come With Joy CP#60 I come with joy, a child of God, forgiven, loved and free, the life of Jesus to recall, in love laid down for me. I come with Christians far and near to find, as all are fed, the new community of love in Christ's communion bread.
21
As Christ breaks bread, and bids us share, each proud division ends. The love that made us, makes us one, and strangers now are friends. The Spirit of the risen Christ, unseen, but ever near, is in such friendship better known, alive among us here.
22
Together met, together bound by all that God has done, we'll go with joy, to give the world the love that makes us one.
23
Draw The Circle Wide CP#418 Draw the circle wide. Draw it wider still. Let this be our song, no one stands alone, standing side by side, draw the circle wide. God the still-point of the circle, 'round whom all creation turns; nothing lost, but held forever, in God's gracious arms. Refrain
24
Let our hearts touch far horizons, so encompass great and small; let our loving know no borders, faithful to God's call. Draw the circle wide. Draw it wider still. Let this be our song, no one stands alone, standing side by side, draw the circle wide.
25
Let the dreams we dream be larger, than we've ever dreamed before; let the dream of Christ be in us, open every door. Draw the circle wide. Draw it wider still. Let this be our song, no one stands alone, standing side by side, draw the circle wide.
26
Celebrant: God the creator, the rock of our salvation, has given us new birth by water and the Holy Spirit, and bestowed upon us the forgiveness of sins, through our Lord Jesus Christ. May he keep us faithful to our calling, now and for ever. All:Amen.
