8 Doctor-at-School Interact with teachers, school contacts and parents Preliminary Screening (Help the Doctor) Get medicines to children, based on Doctor’s prescription Careful and Regular Up-to-Date Documentation (We will provide a record book for each child) Note the results of the screening and Organize Referrals Track and Follow up on Treatment and Medication Deliver Awareness Talks and Organize Interactive Projects for the Students based on Health Ensure Compliance with Program Standards Update DFS Team about Progress and any Issues (Only Anchor Volunteer) www.doctorsforseva.youthforseva.org

9 Doctor-at-School Anchor Volunteer to be responsible for the coordination of planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the local school health program. Determine the health status of all students. Perform initial school entry review of student health records, immunization status, cumulative health record, emergency information, etc Provide referral and follow-up of abnormal health screenings, emergency health issues, and acute or chronic health problems Require child abuse reporting Ensure 1 volunteer in each school is currently certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid. Assist in the planning and training Ensure written health emergency policies and protocols Obtain parent permission in writing prior to invasive screening PROGRAM STANDARDS: www.doctorsforseva.youthforseva.org

11 Doctor-at-School Does everyone understand the roles they will be playing in the FIRST Trimester, i.e during screening? Has the DFS FILE to be kept at the school been discussed? Is the file ready? What day and time will it be convenient for the Doctor to come to the school? (Eg. Sat mornings, Wed 1-2pm) Which volunteers will be with the doc when he is at the school? (If no volunteer can be found, the DFS network can provide a volunteer. Anchor volunteer will figure this out.) Where will the Doctor be consulting at the school? (Private Room) Is there anything the Doctor needs? (Weighing scale, Torch, etc.) How can these be arranged? Has everyone exchanged phone numbers?
