Cartesian Coordinate System Mathematics often display relations by using a grid system called the Cartesian Coordinate System
3
Cartesian Coordinate System Origin (0,0) This system uses two perpendicular number lines or axes that meet at a point called the origin.
4
Coordinates An x-axis which displays the independent information is the horizontal axis A y-axis which displays the dependent information in the vertical axis The x values are also called the domain The y values are also called the range
7
Identify the coordinates of points C, D, E and F. In which quadrant is each point located? (x, y) - Quadrant C (4,5) - 1st D (3,-5) - 4th E (-5,2) - 2nd F (-3,-3) - 3rd
8
Identify the coordinates of points L, N, O. In which quadrant is each point located?
9
(x, y) - Quadrant L (4,1) - 1st N (-6,3) - 2nd O (2,-6) - 4th
10
Mark the following coordinates on the Cartesian plane: A(-2,-3), B(2,-3), C(2,3), and D(-2,3). Then join the points.
12
Mark the following coordinates on the Cartesian plane: A(-4, 1), B(4, 1), C(0,4). Then join the points.
