Solar energy comes from the light of the sun, which means it is a renewable source of energy. We can use its light to create pollution free electricity.
3
When the sun shines on “solar cells,” they absorb its energy causing a chemical reaction that generates electricity. The electricity generated by these solar cells – or photovoltaic system – can be used at homes and factories or it can be stored in a battery. This stored energy then can be used at night.
4
The simplest photovoltaic systems power many of: 1) The small calculators and wristwatches used everyday. 2) Provide electricity to pump water, power communications equipment. 3) Provide electricity to our homes. 4) Domestic lighting. 5) Street lighting. 6) Water pumping. 7) Railway signals.

1. non-polluting source of energy 2. It will last as long as the sun lasts. 3. It doesn’t have the dangers of nuclear technology 4. Solar electricity can be stored

1. The equipment is too expensive for the common man and needs a considerable area to install. 2. Weather plays a factor as the sun’s rays are not present if there are clouds covering it or if it rains or snows. At night, this energy is not available and one has to rely on other sources. 3. Another disadvantage is that its production efficiency Electricity is a form of energy that people produce from the active energy of wind, moving water and the stored energy in oil and coal. At your home, electricity runs the lights, appliances like toasters, television, toys and more.
