COURSE DESCRIPTION The China Experience for Healthcare Professionals is a continuing education course for learners to become familiar with traditional Chinese Medicine and witness the integration of western medicine with TCM. The attendees will also experience the great cultural sites of Shanghai, Xi’an, and Beijing including lectures and tours on the changing face of China.

TOUR OF YUENGYANG TCM HOSPITAL Two hour tour of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment facility. You will observe acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, and herbal pharmacy preparations.

HOW THIS TRIP CAN EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS World Health Organization Lecture The Beijing Director of the WHO will carry out this lecture in research, data management and health care crisis response.

TOUR OF BEIJING UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL To compare the TCM treatment facility, you will visit a western medicine hospital. You will have a chance to see a patient care facility with modern diagnostic tools such as X-rays, CT, MRIs and sonography.

BEIJING UNIVERSITY MEDICAL COLLEGE This will be another tour of a medical training facility. This time we will visit classrooms and laboratories and will be guided by students currently enrolled in healthcare programs.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES You will also have a chance to explore many cultural sites filled with exciting activities: -Shanghai Urban Exhibition Center

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES Xi’an is the cradle of Chinese Culture. You will have a chance to visit the Terra Cotta Warriors, a popular tourist destination. The first emperor of China had an army placed in the ground to guard his tomb from his enemies to the east.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES In Beijing you will visit the Temple of Heaven which in ancient times was the site where the emperor made sacrifices to Heaven. Many people of different generations participate in all sorts of social activities in front of this cultural attraction.

1. TO ENTER CHINA, YOU NEED A VISA AS WELL AS SIX MONTHS' VALIDITY REMAINING ON YOUR PASSPORT. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A VALID PASSPORT AND THE APPROPRIATE CHINESE VISA, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER CHINA, YOU WILL BE FINED, AND YOU WILL BE SUBJECT TO IMMEDIATE DEPORTATION. CHECK YOUR U.S. PASSPORT BEFORE APPLYING FOR A VISA TO MAKE SURE THAT IT HAS ONE YEAR OR MORE VALIDITY REMAINING; OTHERWISE, YOU MAY BE ISSUED A VISA FOR LESS THAN THE TIME REQUESTED. 2.
