FULL-FLOATING AXLE u Definition - axle bearing is on the outside of the axle housing. u No weight is on the axle shaft. u Used on 3/4 ton and larger trucks, and four wheel drive front axles. u If axle breaks wheel will not come off. CBCAUTOMOTIVERKCBCAUTOMOTIVERK Page 165 C

STRAIGHT -ROLLER CBC AUTOMOTIVERKCBC AUTOMOTIVERK u Held in place by a C-Clip in the differential case. u Seal is on the outside of the bearing. u Bearing is lubed from differential.

TAPERED-ROLLER u Held in place by metal retainer bolted to the end of the axle housing. CBC AUTOMOTIVERKCBC AUTOMOTIVERK u Two seals one inside of bearing, one outside.
