The Art And Attitude Of Receiving God’s Instruction

Points to be made Some people refuse to receive teaching. Some people do not like what they are taught, so they reject such teaching. Some complain that the instructions are too hard to keep. But there are benefits to receiving instruction from the LORD.

Ps 143:10 Teach me to do Thy will; for thou art my God: Thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. This is the right attitude. Because it is God who speaks. Because following God’s word produces uprightness.

Ps 25:4 Shew me Thy ways, O LORD; teach me Thy paths. We should ask God to speak to us. He does. God speaks through His word. Notice what method God uses to teach us.

Ps 119:12 ¶ Blessed art Thou, O LORD: teach me Thy statutes. Ps 119:66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed Thy commandments.

De 4:10 Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

God commanded all men and women to obey Him. This was how God taught them. De 4:14 And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.

De 5:31 But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it. God taught Israel how to behave in the promised land.

Ex 24:12 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them. God’s words are meant to teach people. There is a purpose in God’s words. Giving Moses the stone tablets, a law and commandments would be useless if Moses did not teach the people these instructions.

De 31:19 Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel. Ps 119:64 ¶ The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes. Ps 119:33 ¶ Teach me, O LORD, the way of Thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.

Job 6:24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred. Job 34:32 That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

Ps 25:5 Lead me in Thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. Ps 27:11 Teach me Thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. 34:11 ¶ Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

Ps 86:11 Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in Thy truth: unite my heart to fear Thy name. Ps 119:26 ¶ I have declared my ways, and Thou heardest me: teach me Thy statutes. Ps 119:108 ¶ Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me Thy judgments.

Ps 119:68 ¶ Thou art good, and doest good; teach me Thy statutes. Ps 119:124 ¶ Deal with Thy servant according unto Thy mercy, and teach me Thy statutes. Ps 119:135 ¶ Make Thy face to shine upon Thy servant; and teach me Thy statutes.

2Ti 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

What is to be taught? God’s ways God’s paths God’s statutes God’s judgments God’s commands His will, His laws, His commandments.

The result of this teaching. That we might have good judgment and good knowledge. That we might know the LORD and the strength of His might, and power of His words. That we may stand before God in righteousness.

Conclusion God has taught us His ways, laws, commandments, judgments, testimonies, will, precepts, ordinances, rules. Are we allowing God to teach us? Next, what are you going to do with what you have been taught?
