1946 opened the first ‘House of Health’ in Los Angeles, followed by 6 further gyms. He moved to California and formed a balancing act which toured the USA and Europe. Walter Marcyan was born in Chicago in 1913, and grew up during the depression of the 1930’s. ‘House of Health’ became the blueprint for modern gyms – introducing personal trainers, women’s programmes, juice bars, saunas, wet steam rooms and a games room.

Began Manufacturing Commercial Gym Equipment - 1959 Created the First Home Gym with Cables and Pulleys. 1965 Created the Marcy Circuit Trainer. 1969 invented the Automatic Barbell System. Became known as the ‘Grandaddy of Gym Equipment’.
