4. Syllabic Consonants 1. CONSONANTS FUNCTIONING AS A SYLLABLE. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SCHWA-FUL AND THE SCHWA- LESS PRONUNCIATIONS IS THAT IN THE LATTER CASE IT IS NOT A VOWEL BUT A CONSONANT (THE /N/).
