Formal Commands in Spanish Mandatos formales en español
3
Mandatos formales In Spanish there are special verb forms used when one gives a “command!”. For example in English we use: Leave now! Talk! Close the door! Do your homework!
4
Mandatos formales In Spanish however, we have to modify the command (s) according to who we are talking to. For this lesson we will only use 2 nd person form, singular and plural.
5
Mandatos formales We apply the conjugation rules according to the kind of verb being used for the command. Affirmatives will not contain “no” in a command. To make it a negative command just add “No” first and follow the proper grammatical structure of the verb to be used.
6
Examples Affirmative commands: Take! ¡tome (n)! Go! ¡vaya (n)! Write! ¡escriba (n)! Negative commands just add no before the verb: ¡No tome (n)! ¡No vaya (n)! ¡No escriba (n)!
