DALE CITY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT Cluster Homes Definition: Cluster homes will be defined as a community of single family detached homes constructed of lightweight building materials spaced ten feet or less apart. The construction is Type 5, in which walls, beams, girders, trusses, and roofs are made of dimensional lumber. They have vinyl or wood siding, zero clearance chimneys and narrow travel lanes separating each occupancy. Gusset plates connect the roof trusses and the floor beams are typically plywood I’s.
