NOAH
2
INTRODUCTION IN HEBREWS CHAPTER 11, NOAH IS COUNTED AMONG THE GREAT HEROES OF FAITH (HEB. 11:6-7). OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL LESSONS, WE WISH TO CONSIDER THE LIFE OF NOAH. TODAY, WE SET THE STAGE FOR SUCH A STUDY BY NOTING THE DESCRIPTION RECORDED IN GENESIS 6:8-9.
3
FOUND FAVOR NOAH FOUND FAVOR IN THE EYES OF THE LORD (GEN. 6:8-9). BOTH MOSES AND DAVID ARE SIMILARLY DESCRIBED (EXOD. 33:12-23; ACTS 7:46-50; CF. 13:21-22).
4
RIGHTEOUS MAN NOAH WAS A RIGHTEOUS MAN (GEN. 6:8-9). THE BOOK OF PROVERBS SETS FORTH THE CHARACTERISTICS OF SUCH INDIVIDUALS (PROV. 9:7-12; 12:10; 13:5-6; 20:7; 24:15-16; 25:26).
5
BLAMELESS IN HIS TIME NOAH WAS BLAMELESS IN HIS TIME (GEN. 6:8-9). SO LIKEWISE, THE PATRIARCH JOB IS IDENTIFIED AS ONE WHO WAS BLAMELESS (JOB 1:1-5). DISCIPLES OF THE LORD SHOULD LIVE IN A HOLY AND BLAMELESS MANNER (PHIL. 1:9-11; 2:14-16; COL. 1:21-23; 2 PET. 3:14-18; JUDE 24-25).
6
WALKED WITH GOD ALONG WITH ENOCH, NOAH “WALKED WITH GOD” (GEN. 5:22, 24; 6:8-9). CHRISTIANS MUST EVIDENCE SIMILAR COMMITMENT (ROM. 6:4; 8:3-4; 2 COR. 5:6-7; GAL. 5:16-26).
7
CONCLUSION GREAT HEROES OF FAITH, SUCH AS NOAH, SHOULD INSPIRE US TO RUN THE CHRISTIAN RACE WITH PATIENCE; YET, THE GREATEST EXAMPLE OF ALL IS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST (HEB. 12:1-3; 1 PET. 2:21-25).
