What is an action verb? A verb tells the subject’s a aa actions, events, or s ss state of being. It is always found in the predicate of a sentence. A verb that shows action is called an action verb.

Present verbs present tense verb An action verb that describes an action that is happening now is called a present tense verb. The Falcon flies through the sky. Flies Flies is a present tense verb because it is happening right now.

Future Verbs Verbs which tell about actions which are going to happen are future tense verbs. will wake up We will wake up at six a.m. Will wake up Will wake up is a future tense verb because the action has not yet happened.

Helping Verbs A helping verb works with a main verb to help you understand what action is taking place. Elmer was using the computer.

Helping Verbs Keep in mind: Not every sentence has a helping verb with the m mm main verb. When you see an "ing" verb such as “jogging", be sure there is a h hh helping verb also.
