English for Academic Purposes AIMS OF THE COURSE: To improve coherence in writing for academic purposes – mainly essays To go beyond sentence-level grammar and look at the structure of paragraphs, texts, connecting ideas in the text, introductions and conclusions, etc. Although focus will be on writing, oral interaction is expected of students and discussion activities will be included

Requirements for course completion 1. Attending classes 2. Completing homework assignments (not graded) summary formal letter chart interpretation 3. Completing final assignments (graded) summary (written in class) interpretation of data and graphs (written in class) essay (home assignment)

Discussion topics 1. FREE HIGHER EDUCATION FOR ALL 2. ONLINE COURSES Select a topic and discuss it in pairs. Prepare a list of 4 arguments in favour and 4 arguments against the proposed topics.

English for Academic Purposes FREE HIGHER EDUCATION FOR ALL ONLINE COURSES Write a one-page essay on the topic including arguments in favour and against your topic exchanged in your group discussions.
