King Edward VII in 1901 to 1902 came up with the design for the Australian national flag. Over the next few years, the exact specifications of the flag were changed several times intentionally as a result of confusion. Who came up with the design for the Australian national flag?

The National Flag of Australia contains three elements: The British Union Jack on a blue field - reflecting the historical origins of the Australian flag. The Southern Cross - reflecting Australia's geographic position in the Southern Hemisphere. A seven pointed star - representing the Federation of six states, with an additional point to represent the territories collectively. What elements make up the Australian National Flag?

The flag's original design was chosen in 1901 from entries in a worldwide competition held following Federation. How was the choice of flag to represent our country decided?

The guidelines say that the Australian National Flag are allowed to be flown on every day of the year, and that it should be treated with respect and dignity it deserves as the nation's most important national symbol. The National Flag must always be flown in a position superior to that of any other flag or ensign when flown in Australia or on Australian territory, and it should always be flown aloft and free. The flag must be flown in all government buildings and displayed in polling stations when there is a national election or referendum. When do we display the Australian National Flag?

In recent years there has been debate over whether the flag should be changed to show that we are independent from England. I think this should be decided by a referendum (a referendum is a question that is asked to the population who are then asked to choose an answer). Should the Australian National Flag be changed?
