The following slides will give you instructions on how to create the children’s book.

2. Children’s book directions
Choose one of the invertebrate animal phyla from the “Animal Phyla” sheet.
You will write your story about an animal in that group.
Example- you choose the phylum Annelida, and you write your story about “Earl the Earthworm”.
This story can be about anything, you just have to include characteristics about the animal.
Each group member must choose a different phyla.

3. Characteristics that should be included:
Habitat
Body plan
Feeding
Shape
Reproduction
Symmetry
Other facts you want to include

4. Work outline
Day 1: Write a rough draft- show to Mrs. Morris or Eubanks by the end of class today.
Day 2: Get 2 group members to peer edit, or review your story.
Start working on your final draft. Each page must have a picture.
Use computer paper.
This must be colored and neat!
Day 3: Finish the final draft and turn in to Mrs. Morris. If time permits, you can read in class.
