5
General Scope of County Project
Color and black & white digital orthophoto production at 1”=100’ scale with 0.5’ pixel resolution Aerial Lidar Survey with DEM production 2’ contour topographic mapping Limited planimetric feature mapping at 1”=100’scale

LIDAR Light Detection and Ranging;
or Laser Imaging Detection and Ranging A laser pulse is sent out from a transmitter and the light particles are returned back to the receiver. The laser pulses paint the ground very accurately mapping the ground.
7
LIDAR is a multiple-return
system for each laser shot. Captures anything above the surface, such as forest canopy, buildings, power lines, roads. Captures the earth surface.
8
DEM and DTM A digital elevation model (DEM) - generally refers to a representation of the earth's surface (or subset of this), including features such as vegetation, buildings, bridges, etc. The DEM often comprises much of the raw dataset, which may have been acquired through techniques such as photogrammetry, LiDAR, land surveying, etc. A digital terrain model (DTM) on the other hand is (generally) a filtered version of this surface, and hence can be a post-processed version of what was originally a DEM. The DTM provides a so-called bare-earth model, devoid of landscape features. While a DEM may be useful for landscape modeling, city modeling and visualization applications, a DTM is often required for flood or drainage modeling, land-use studies, geological applications, and much more. 10
Breaklines are linear features that define interruptions in surface smoothness. They define stream channels, ridges, shorelines, and building footprints.

A terrain dataset is a TIN-based surface
A terrain dataset is a TIN-based surface. Triangulated irregular network.
