3. The invasion of Normandy also known as D-Day was the “second front” against Hitler's Germany. Starting at 6:30 June 6, 1944 they started with an air assault landing of 24,000 then a second phase of 175,000 amphibious landing troops.

4. The Normandy was the first successful first opposed landing on the English channel in over eight centuries. The defeat of the Germans on Normandy's shores was one of the largest of the wars.
