1 Timothy 1 Timothy is more informational 3:15 It does contain encouragement 1:18 instructions to live according to the prophecies about him 4:6-16 especially v.6, 11, 14, 15-16 6:11-14, 20 good confession is the foundation for his solemn charge

2 Timothy A more personal message of encouragement 1:6 is the theme “stir up the gift of God” “stir up” literally means “fan into flame,” “rekindle the fire” “the gift of God” in 1 Tim. 4:14 with elders’ hands the work of evangelist Ephesians 4:11 “the gift of God” in 2 Tim. 1:6 thru Paul’s hands Spiritual gift Romans1:11; Acts 8:18; 2 Cor.12:12 Temporary gifts 1 Cor.13:8-10 Permanent faith, hope, and love v.13

2 Timothy 1:7 1:7 is the outline “God has not given us a spirit of fear…” “but a spirit of power,” “[a spirit] of love,” “[a spirit] of a sound mind.”
