3 How do I know where my child fits?  Listen to your child’s teachers recommendations  Actively participate in the transition IPRC meetings

4 DD/MF -- South Wing Our south wing program is designed for medically fragile and developmentally delayed students. Students complete the program with a Certificate of Accomplishment (not a credit based program)

5 ABLE Program – Who fits? Students who are working at a Grade 1 – 4 level Students who have had a history of special education/life skills programming Students who have the IPRC designation of Intellectual/Mild Intellectual Disability

6 ABLE Program – After High School Students receive an “Ontario Secondary School Certificate” – this shows the completion of grade 12 with 14+ credits. Students gain basic employment skills. Students may proceed into independent or supported employment or ODSP supports

7 Essential Program – Who fits? Students working at a Grade 5 – 6 level CAT 3 test results mostly low Students who receive intensive resource and special education supports Students who have the IPRC designation of Intellectual/Mild Intellectual Disability or Communication Learning Disability

8 Essential Program – After High School Students receive the Ontario Secondary School Diploma OSSD (30 credits) Students complete courses in a modified educational environment. Courses are taught at a slower pace with smaller class sizes. Students are NOT prepared to enter post secondary directly from this program.

9 Regular Classroom with Resource Assistance (Applied or Academic) -- Who fits? Report card indicates working at or close to grade level in English and Mathematics CAT test results have some low scores but many at the proficient level Could benefit from opportunities in technical “hand’s on” learning settings IPRC designation Communication Learning Disability

10 Regular Classroom with Resource Assistance (Applied or Academic)-After High School Students receive the Ontario Secondary School Diploma Pursue college education in some areas, IEP can carry over to post secondary education Academic students can pursue University

11 TLD Program Designed for students with communication learning disability and who are in need of technology to assist them with their reading and writing skills. Students are identified by their resource team, and should already be in possession of assistive technology. The TLD program offers students to take two classes in the morning in the TLD lab and regular streamed classes in the afternoon at the applied level.
