8 Vancouver Is a coastal seaport city on the mainland of British Columbia 2010- Winter Olympic Games-> Canada won 14 Gold medals, 7 silver and 5 bronze medals Is basetown of Greenpeace 603,000 people live there (8th largest Canadian c ity) - Gastown is national historic site

9 Toronto Is the largest city in Canada (2.6 mil. people)
It is located in state Ontario History of town has began in 18th century (Town of York) 2 huge fires in 1849 and1904 had destroyed most of the town 2015- Toronto will host Pan American Games

10 Quebec The largest French community outside France
Capital city is Quebec city Largest province by area Saint lawrence river between Montreal and Quebec city Quebec old city is from 1985 The UNESCO site

11 Montreal Is the largest city in province of Quebec and second largest city in Canada It is originally called City of Mary after Mount Royal 1,6 mil. People lived there

Before 15th century there lived many aboriginal people (more than 20,000 years) In the turn of century Canada was discovered by the Europeans (English and French) and at beginning of 17th century they settled there The following centuries were full of wars between the Europeans, the aboriginal people and the USA 1987- free trade zone between USA and Canada

14 Political system 1867- became a British dominion-> Now it`s independent and member of the British Commonwealth of Nations 1965- own national flag Canada has a parliamentary system within the context of a constitutional monarchy The British Queen is represented by Governor General of Canada (at present is David Lloyd Johnston) Main parties in Canada: Democratic party, conservative party and liberal party of Canada and many others

15 Religion Almost 70% of Canadians are Christians
20% of Canadians are Non-religious Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism has about 2% of each
