1 ECE Pathway Courses What are the ECE Pathway courses and how do they work together?

2 Child Development Level 1 course 10th, 11th, & 12th graders Experience and discover how children grow and develop from birth to 5 years old. Participate in and produce child activities that develop and engage children. Apply class experiences as you work with the children in the Early Childhood Training Center. Begin working on the national CDA License. Early Childhood Education A Level 2 course 10th, 11th, & 12th grade ONLY if completed or enrolled in Child Development. Seniors without prerequisites will need the ECE teacher's permission. Identify and experience how to teach, develop, and engage children from birth to 5 years old. Produce and teach DAP lesson plans that engage the children in the Early Childhood Training Center. Receive hands-on training while working with the children in the Early Childhood Training Center. Continue working on the national CDA License. Early Childhood Education B Level 3 course 11th & 12th grade ONLY if completed or enrolled in both Child Development & ECE A. Seniors without prerequisites will need the ECE teacher's permission. An apprenticeship where you facilitate and drive the engaging teaching and developing of children within the Early Childhood Training Center. Develop and teach DAP lesson plans that engage the children in the Early Childhood Training Center. Utilize and expand upon information of developing and educating children while being mentored by the center director in the Early Childhood Training Center. Finish the national CDA License. Early Childhood Education (2) C Level 4 course 11th & 12th grade ONLY if completed or enrolled in Child Development, ECE A & ECE B. Seniors without prerequisites will need the ECE teacher's permission. Mange and model the developing and educating of the children in the Early Childhood Training Center. Mentor the students taking the prior Early Childhood Education courses as they develop and build on their classroom knowledge and skills. Operate an On-site / Lab school Early Childhood Training Center under the tutelage of the Early Childhood Training Center Director. Work with the Center Director to finalize the national CDA License. Early Childhood Education 2 Early Childhood Education 2 CDA License emphasis Level 5 course 12th grade ONLY if completed or enrolled in Child Development, ECE A, ECE B, & declared to be a CDA candidate. Utilize and expand upon previous information of developing and educating children while job shadowing the Early Childhood Training Center Director. Finish the remaining facets of the national CDA License. Graduate with the National CDA license which opens the door to vocations and opportunities in the industry of children. ECE Pathway Courses Career Focus: medical, education, child care, psychology, social work, parenting, or any career that has to do with children.

7 EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (2) C CENTER CDA Portfolio Resources *Students who completed the LHS ECE B course have already met the ECE 2 performance objectives for the class. *Students interested in the CDA License can work on their portfolio with the director. *LHS SENIOR students admitted into the Early Childhood Training center without having taken ECE B will be given an ECE 2 Fast Track Packet consisting of those performance objectives needed to meet the ECE 2 requirements for state testing. *Write 3 Competency Statements from the CDA requirements. *Gather 5 Resources from the CDA requirements. CDA EXPERIENCE HOURS 66 PER SEMESTER CDA EDUCATION HOURS 10 PER SEMESTER

8 EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION 2 (CDA LICENSE) CDA Portfolio Resources * The Early Childhood Training Center Director will work with these CDA candidates to finish up the requirements needed to get their CDA license. *Ordering the CDA Book with the application materials *Organizing the CDA portfolio using the MY CDA PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO sheet found in the CDA book. *Use the My CDA EDUCATION sheet found in the CDA book to gather proof of education hours, transcripts, and training certificates. * Distribute and collect the FAMILY QUESTIONNAIRES and complete the FAMILY QUESTIONNAIRES SUMMARY SHEET both found in the CDA book. *Complete the necessary sections on the REFLECTIVE DIALOGUE WORKSHEET found in the CDA book. *Apply for the CDA, pay the fee, and connect with a PD (Professional Development) specialist who will help with the rest. *Schedule an observation and verification visit with the PD specialist to come to the center. *Schedule and take the CDA exam.
