Leonardo was thinking centuries ahead of his time when inventing. He designed a plane, tank, machine gun, water-walking shoes, parachute, etc. Unfortunately, many of his inventions were never finished. Inventions

He made many works of art including the famous Mona Lisa. He was so good that he made art for tons of royal and noble families across Italy and the surrounding countries. He not only created paintings, but many famous sculptures too. Art

Leonardo lived from 1452 to 1519. He grew up in Florence, Italy and lived during the Renaissance Era. At the age of 15 he was apprenticed to the Italian artist, Andrea del Verrocchio. He traveled all over Italy in places like Rome, Florence, and Milan. He created works of art for all the greatest castles, palaces, and churches all over Italy. Life

Although he was a great artist Leonardo would use quick sketches to remember inventions. Leonardo da Vinci was born in Vinci, Italy. Leonardo was left-handed and in his journals he wrote backwards (right to left). Fun Facts
