12 Placement Development Teams (PDT) Set up to ensure students have quality support in their practice placements Partnership between HE institutions, and placement providers Innovative support linked to our Centre of Excellence and Placement Learning (Ceppl)

13 Placements & Study Centres You will be asked to list your preferences for placements and you will travel on at least one occasion to an area that is not your first choice.

14 Recommended skills Numeracy: Including fractions & Decimals IT: Word processing, e- mail and the use of the internet Literacy: scan reading, academic writing, spelling and grammar Preference to sciences Biology Entry competitive

15 Your Application What we look for: Totality of the application: GCSE: Five GCSE grades C or above, must include English, Maths and a Science A levels: 280 UCAS tariff points (minimum 160 points from two A levels). Preference given to human biology and study within last 5 years. Apply before all qualifications are obtained

16 Non Standard Academic Qualifications: BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in a Science or Health related subject or Access to higher education Applications from those returning to education are welcome For non-postgraduate applications evidence of academic study in the last five years is required Personal statement References Your Application What we look for:

17 Personal Statement Demonstrate an interest and knowledge for the profession Evidence of related work experience Demonstrate evidence of good communication skills Ability to care for others Problem solving and use of initiative

18 Personal Statement Ability to study/work independently and in groups Extra curricular/outside interests Willingness to learn Quality of written work Supportive reference

19 Selections Days As part of the selection process, any applicant whose qualifications, personal statement and references score highly will be invited to attend a nursing recruitment day. These days consist of: a written assessment oral communication assessment. You must attend a nursing selection day in order to be offered a place.
