This opening captured the attention of all and immediately following the video she asked the students to put on the hat and become the VP of a car dealership. ‘Next as VP, I want you to make some predictions on sales for new and used cars, annually.’ Having alerted the students to their new role and responsibilities, Ramona deliberately introduced the solving of equations with variables on both sides as she talked through the process while demonstrating on the overheard how to set up the equation” (L.
