1. Biological Spill Kit Appropriate, fresh disinfectant Forceps
Paper towels, swabs, gloves
Metal or polypropylene (autoclavable) dust pan
Heavy-duty polyethylene bags
HEPA filter masks, shoe covers or rubber boots, protective suit (for large spills)

2. Biological Spill Procedure
Large spills: hold breath, leave area, allow minutes for aerosol to settle
Cover spill with paper towels to avoid splashing
Pour disinfectant onto paper towels with circular motion, from outside towards centre
Wait so minutes, then remove towels with forceps
Repeat above steps

3. Spills in Biological Safety Cabinet
Leave fan on
Cover spilled material with paper towels
Gently pour disinfectant onto paper towels, working with a circular motion, from the outside to the centre
Wait minutes, then remove with forceps
Repeat the above steps

4. Spills in Biological Safety Cabinet
If spilled material goes through perforated work surface or grills to catch tray below, pour disinfectant to dilute spill tenfold
Let stand, drain through drain cock and clean.
