1 Modified 9-lead Diagnostic ECG Using the Physio-Control LP10 “Old dog tricks” Gary Denton

2 Test Confirm option is activated Press RECORD for 1.0 - 2.0 seconds DIAG should appear on screen.

3 If DIAG does not appear... YOU MUST LOAD THE OPTION

4 To activate diagnostic quality option... Locate LP 10 programming key

5 Place battery into slot one. Turn power off Insert LP 10 programming key into AUX port

6 Turn Power Switch to BATT 1 & Remove key

7 Verify o01 appears on status display Press ECG SIZE to change option status to o01

8 Verify 1 appears in upper right screen Press QRS VOL until # 1 appears in upper right screen

9 Set Option Press CAL, BEEP will sound. Option is now loaded

10 Confirm option is activated Press RECORD for 1.0 - 2.0 seconds DIAG should appear on screen.

11 Obtaining the Diagnostic ECG Go directly to these steps if DIAG option is already activated on your LP10

12 Place Electrodes

13 Place Lead Wires

14 Select Lead 1

15 Select DIAG option This activates the recorder Press RECORD for 1.0 - 2.0 seconds DIAG should appear on screen.

16 Scroll through leads 1,2,3 (recorder will be on)

17 Watch for baseline to stabilize Obtain one full cardiac cycle for each lead

18 Leave switch in lead 3 position Manually obtain V-leads

19 Move from V-1 through V-6

20 Watch for baseline to stabilize Obtain one full cardiac cycle for each lead

21 Stop recorder when complete

22 Mark leads with pen

23 Cut and Paste ECG

24 Diagnostic 9 Lead Advantages Can be done with existing equipment Provides adequate diagnostic picture for AMI Requires no special equipment

25 Diagnostic 9 Lead Disadvantages Does not produce a “standard format” ECG Take more time than conventional 12-lead Harder to mount and label Often rejected by ED staff Lacks leads aVR, aVL, and aVF No computer interpretation
