2 Managing Citations Managing citations is reviewed as follows in this presentation: Create a citation alert Manage your citation alerts Perform a “Cited in Scopus” Export citations to Reference Manager or EndNote 2

3 Citation Options 3 Citation options are available from the abstract and full-text views of an article: Create Citation Alert. This allows you to create an e-mail alert advising you when this article is cited. You must be a registered site user to take advantage of this feature. Cited in Scopus. Clicking this option invokes a search to find other articles that cite this article via Scopus; there are 0 references in Scopus for this article. Export Citation. This allows you to export article citation data in ASCII and other formats for use in referencing software (e.g., Reference Manager, EndNote)

4 4 Citation Alert Citation alert. Create an e-mail alert advising you when this article is cited. You must be a registered user to take advantage of this feature, and clicking the link will bring up the Login/Register screen. If you are a new user, you will need to register. If you have already registered, you will need to log in. Once you register or log in, you will get a confirmation that this alert has been added to your profile. If you wish to manage your alerts in your profile, click the first option (see next slide).

5 5 Citation Alert cont… Citation alert. If you are a new or registered user and have not logged in, a new window will open so that you can register and/or log in Once you log in, a new window will open confirming that your citation alert has been added. You can manage your alerts from here by clicking on ‘Manage Your Alerts’.

6 6 Managing your citation alerts You can also manage your citation alerts from your profile. You need to be logged in to do so. Once logged in, click on "My Account" at the top right of the homepage and then go to the “Alerts” tab under your account.

7 7 Cited in Scopus Cited in Scopus. This option invokes a search to find other articles that cite the specified article. You do not need to be registered or logged in to perform a “cited in Scopus” search. A new window will open to our Scopus platform, listing the related articles. *Note that Scopus is an institutional product available through a license and therefore the user will only have access to high-level information, not the full Scopus detail. Search results of other articles that have cited the specific article above

8 8 Cited in Scopus Cited in Scopus. In this demonstration, you will see that the articles related to the search are listed on the ‘Search Results’ page, which will also indicate if they are “cited in Scopus”. *Note that Scopus is an institutional product available through a license and therefore the user will only have access to high-level information, not the full Scopus detail.

9 9 Export citation. This allows you to export article citation data in ASCII and other formats (e.g., RIS) for use in referencing software such as Reference Manager or EndNote. You do not need to be a registered user to take advantage of this feature. Once you select Export Citation, a new window will open, as shown below. ASCII selected: A new window opens. You can either copy and paste the citation info into another document or save it under “Page” on the window toolbar. RIS format selected: A new window opens asking you to save the file.
