1 Giving Kids Hands-On Ministry Experiences!
Drs. Paul & Karyl Stanton World Changer Kids, Inc. Tulsa, Oklahoma

2 Why Teach Kids Missions?
A 1990 survey of 133 missionaries showed: 48% made commitments to become full-time, career missionaries under the age of 18. 16% made commitments to become full-time, career missionaries under the age of 13. 58% cited contact with missionaries, reading books about missionaries, and growing up on the mission field

3 Why Teach Kids Missions?
Exposure to missions teaching, missionaries, and the mission field at an early age plays a significant role in the individual’s decision to personally fulfill the Great Commission. The gifts and calling of God that He placed in our hearts do not change (Romans 11:29), and children can respond to that calling.

Ministry at an International Church Offer to help the pastor with a children’s outreach program. Plan a multi-cultural program; use props for translated words or phrases.

12 Reaching Out to the World: Ministry at an International Church
Include a ministry time to give away “goodie bags” (candy, tracts in appropriate language, toys) or balloon sculptures. Suggest a fellowship time after the program. Bring cookies or snacks.

13 Reaching Out to the World: Ministry at an International Church
Suggest a time to hold a workshop for their children’s ministry workers to train them in children’s ministry. Offer to help an International Church with a VBS program. Let your kids help.

14 Reaching Out to the World
Have an Acts 1:8 summer missions camp! Take field trips around your community to various places and ministries representing Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth.

15 Reaching Out to the World
Help kids learn to be witnesses for Jesus in different cultures: JERUSALEM !

16 Reaching Out to the World
Have kids learn about ministry to Jewish people by visiting a ministry that reaches out to the Jewish Community or the nation of Israel. Visit with a Messianic Rabbi or have a Passover dinner.

17 Reaching Out to the World
JUDEA: Have kids learn about and visit an inner city ministry, homeless shelter, nursing home, orphanage, or other outreach to the poor. Have the kids raise money for the ministry, serve a meal to the homeless, or make a donation of clothing or toys.

18 Reaching Out to the World
SAMARIA: Have your kids learn about and visit an area of your city that is underserved with the Gospel and plan an outreach there. An ethnic community, a housing project, a daycare center for needy children, a hospital

19 Reaching Out to the World
SAMARIA: Make sure you get permission from the appropriate directors or officials to include Christian content in your program or hand out Christian literature.

20 Reaching Out to the World
ENDS OF THE EARTH: Visit an International Church and perform a ministry program for their children and families; help with a VBS. Celebrate with a meal at an ethnic restaurant.

21 Reaching Out to the World
Take your kids on a Mission Trip!!! Start planning a year in advance. Plant a missions vision. Consult with your church’s missions director, and connect with a missionary that your church already knows or supports who is willing to accept a team with children and do children’s outreaches.

22 Take Your Kids on a Mission Trip !
Preliminaries: Application / Screening process Decide on the cost per person; make travel arrangements. Begin fundraising and have kids write support letters.

23 Take Your Kids on a Mission Trip!
Preliminaries: Have regular team meetings for prayer and training (puppets, skits, songs, dance). Encourage each child to have a prayer partner and to pray daily for the trip. Assign daily Bible readings to build their faith so they are all “in one accord”.

24 Take Your Kids on a Mission Trip!
Preliminaries: Have kids get their passports, birth certificates, or necessary immunizations. Learn about the culture where you are going (language, food, climate, customs, music, etc.).

25 Take Your Kids on a Mission Trip!
Visit an International Church from that culture to practice your program. As the trip approaches, make time during team meetings to pack supplies or have special “packing meetings”.

26 Take Your Kids on a Mission Trip!
Have a final packing meeting to pack all your ministry materials (each team member can have one personal suitcase and one “team suitcase” for ministry supplies). Distribute a list of emergency information / contacts and prayer requests to families and other church members. Enjoy the journey!

27 Take Your Kids on a Mission Trip!
Be flexible! Be prepared to change plans! Serve the missionaries and local pastors as much as possible. Minister to the local people. After returning home, have a team party and “debriefing”. Give a report to your church.

28 Take Your Kids on a Mission Trip!

29 Take Your Kids on a Mission Trip!

30 Reaching Out to the World
Have a Gospel balloon launch to illustrate how the Good News of Jesus has spread around the world! Tell the story of Christians in South Korea and how they use balloons to reach the people in North Korea with the Gospel. Inflate world balloons with helium; tie ribbons and Gospel tracts to each balloon and RELEASE as a group!

31 Reaching Out to the World
Do a “hands-on” missions project without leaving home! Samaritan’s Purse: “Operation Christmas Child” Slavic Gospel Association: “Immanuel’s Child” Gospel for Asia: “Pedal Project”

32 Watch Your Kids Become World Changers!
