The USA is originally divided up into SIX time zones. Today we’re only going to be looking at the FOUR that cover the Continental United States (the lower 48 states.) EST, CST, MST, and PST The reason for this is because the other two time zones are for Alaska (AKST) and Hawaii (HAST). We will be covering these another day!

Eastern Standard Time This time zone is located from the Eastern coast of the U.S. into Indiana and down to Florida. One of the major cities that is located in EST is New York City, NY. Back to U.S. Time Zone Map

Central Standard Time This time zone is located in the middle of the United States. It stretches across America’s heartland. It starts at North Dakota and finishes in Texas. A major city on CST is Chicago, IL. Back to U.S. Time Zone Map

Mountain Standard Time
This time zone covers our nation’s most mountainous regions. It is further west than EST or CST and covers states from Montana to New Mexico. A major city that is on MST is Denver, CO. Back to U.S. Time Zone Map
