Module One: Your Inner Innovator Part One: “What made you YOU” Objective 1 – reflect on the key influences in bringing you to where you are now – ‘what made you YOU’ Objective 2 – reflect on your experience of change in your life? Objective 3 – Understand better what drives you as an innovator, an entrepreneur 4

The What made you ‘YOU’ exercise Self-reflection exercise – What made you what you are today? – ‘you’ as a ROSE (a mix of Petals and thorns. Influences for good or for bad. What influenced you (e.g. the talents of the people around you) Why? Pair off : talk to each other about your reflections. Time-limited : mediated by an ‘elevator bell’ (sets a time limit, as per time in an elevator with someone you want to talk to before the doors open, encouraging concise presentation). 5

The ‘life rose’ Represent your story as a series of ‘petals’ and ‘thorns’..... ‘Petals’ are the positive, encouraging events/influences ‘Thorns’ are the painful, challenging events/influences 6

The “Getting To Go” exercise Go back to your mindset when you started your business Summarise the story of starting your business – what were your motivations? What were the steps you took from idea to start-up? Label those steps either as push or pull factors Use the push/pull matrix provided Then pair off. Each of you present your story to your partner You should listen to your partner and identify what was surprising and specifically what was risky? What have you learnt from this person? 16
