Residencies Three-part residency requirement during course of study at various locations throughout the United States  First residency conducted face-to-face – Takes place within the first two semesters of program over a three day weekend  Second residency conducted online – Online synchronous communication over two three-day weekends  Third residency has three options – Professional organization proposal and online colloqium – Paper accepted for peer-reviewed publication and online colloqium – Present paper at Walden University residency

17 17 Ph.D. in Education Program Components ▪ Online courses  Asynchronous discussion available 24 hours/day  Proven online course development and delivery methodologies ▪ Knowledge Area Modules (KAMs)  Research-based  Student-directed, faculty-guided, in-depth independent study  Accommodates individual learning needs and objectives ▪ Hybrid of online courses and applied research ▪ Faculty mentors  Advise and assess students on KAMs  Monitor students’ progress through their program in relation to the overall program goals  Prepare students for dissertation research  Serve as leaders in their fields

18 18 Ph.D. Residencies  Twenty (20) units required Student must attend their first residency within the first nine months of their Ph.D. program  Face-to-face sessions that allow students to work together with academic support staff and faculty in a variety of activities: Seminars Colloquia Individual advising Classroom instruction  Held throughout the United States and at industry conferences  Facilitate learning from other students in the program and important networking opportunities

19 19 Dissertation  Original contribution to education field  Inquiry-oriented  Students set forth new ideas and enlightened insights to effect change in individuals, organizations, and society.  Requires you to demonstrate your knowledge of research design and your ability to interpret research findings.  Culmination of doctoral program  KAMs help to develop the dissertation

20 20 Master’s Admission Requirements  A baccalaureate degree from CHEA accredited University  A valid teaching certificate or two years of teaching experience  Completed application  Official transcripts  Goal statement  Professional references

21 21 Master’s Tuition and Fees* Tuition: $360 per credit x 6 credits per semester $2,160 per semester x 5 semesters Total Tuition: $10, 800 (includes books and materials) Fees: $50 application fee Total: $10,850 Total Cost: MLE $11,100 | EdL $13,010 | Science $11,930 Note: Books and materials are not included in the tuition for the MLE program. *All tuition and fees are subject to change.
