What Are Emotions? The way you manage your emotions affects your mental and emotional health. Emotions are not positive or negative. It’s how you deal with them that matters.

Managing Your Emotions in Healthful Ways When dealing with anger, take time to cool down and think. To cope with sadness, try writing in a journal or listening to music. Try physical activity to help you focus your energy. If you are angry about a situation you can’t change, talk to a trusted adult. Think about positive feelings while you breathe deeply with your eyes closed.
