1 HOT AIR BALLOON CONSTRUCTION A LOOK AT HOW HEAT IS TRANSFERRED IN THE ATMOSPHERE

2 STEP 1 SELECT 9 SHEETS OF TISSUE PAPER. GLUE 4 OF THEM SIDE BY SIDE TO FORM THE SIDES OF YOUR BALLOON. (SEE PICTURE # 1)

4 STEP 2 With the remaining 5 sheets, make five squares (see picture 2)

6 STEP 3 Glue one of the five squares to the top of one of the sides. (see picture 3.)

8 STEP 4 With the remaining 4 squares, Cut 4 funnel-shaped pieces by Cutting a right triangle from Both sides of the squares with A base of approximately 6 to 8 inches. (see picture 4)

10 Step 5 Glue the four funnel-shaped Pieces to the bottom of each side. (See picture 5)

12 STEP 6 Join the bottom of the balloon by gluing the 4 funnel pieces together. (This will cause wrinkles, but is just fine.) (see picture 6)

14 STEP 7 Join the rest of the sides around the top square. (see picture 7)

16 STEP 8 MAKE ONE FINAL SEAM DOWN THE LAST SIDE. (SEE PICTURE 8)

18 LAST STEPS BEND THE WIRE INTO A CIRCLE ABOUT 6 INCHES IN DIAMETER, THEN GATHER THE BOTTOM OF THE BALLOON AROUND THE WIRE AND GLUE IT. (THIS MAKES LOTS MORE WRINKLES, LIKE A SLEEVE AROUND AN ELASTIC BAND.) (SEE PICS)
