OUTLINE  What is PLEX Media Server - It is an application that will cache and transcode media content so the user is able to stream it to different devices.  The creators started working on PLEX in May 2008.  PLEX Media Server began widely known in 2010.  The original source code started from XBMC Media Center

3. OUTLINE  It is available for Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows.  Plex also offers streaming apps for Roku, IOS, Andorid, and Chromecast. You can also stream from a computer application or over the web.

4. MOTIVATION  Thave a media center that was able to stream multiple video files to different devices at the same time, but also have all the files in one place, instead of having the media content spread out over multiple hard drives.  Watch your favorite movies while away from home, with PLEX you can.

5. PROBLEM STATEMENT  A lot of people will forget to put a movie, song, photograph, they meant to put on their mobile device so they will have for later. But with PLEX you don’t have to remember to upload it to your device. As long as you have internet access you can have access the any of those files.

6. Assumptions  Will need a computer with at least a minimum Core 2 Duo 1.6ghz CPU.  For 720p a Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz CPU.  For 1080p transcoding, a Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz CPU  An implicit assumption is the viewer knows the basics about a computer.

7. PROPOSED SOLUTION  Download PLEX Application  Find a computer  Setup account  Choose channels (optional)  Arranging for media content  Set up web access (optional)  Test the streaming on multiple deceives  Verify results with multiple tests

9. RESULTS  I have a fully functioning media server that works without any problems.

10. CONCLUSIONS  PLEX is a well known and well respected application to stream users media content to multiple devices without worry.  PLEX is designed for people who want to have access to their media content while in other parts of their home, or while they are away from their home.
