Cheryl Drolet Hi, I am Cheryl. I am proud to again serve as the campaign coordinator for our agency. When you receive your materials, will you please consider participating? Working together, we can do so much good in our community, our country and throughout the world. Thank you!
5
Who is the Statewide 2012 Campaign Chair? Nancy Wyman, Lt. Governor, State of Connecticut serves as the Statewide Chair of the 2012 Connecticut State Employees’ Campaign.
6
Why have a workplace giving program?
7
Because although many of us would like to help others, giving a substantial amount all at once is not always possible. Spreading your target amount over 26 pay periods, a small amount out of each paycheck, allows you to make the gift without ruining your budget. A little at a time adds up to so much.
8
Wait a minute, I thought workplace giving in my State agency was called the United Way Campaign. Why are you calling it the CT State Employees’ Campaign? It’s the same thing, right?
9
No, it is NOT the same---the United Way is only one group, or federation, that participates in this annual giving Campaign. There are 8 other federations, or umbrella groups, which are comprised of over 700 charitable organizations focusing on: health homelessness hunger and so many more causes.
10
For 2012, the State Campaign runs from now to December 7. With just this ONE annual campaign, State employees are not asked by charities to give at various times of the year.
11
You are watching this at work but many that you may personally know are unemployed. Some have health issues or needs beyond their capacity. If you are in a position to assist them, the Campaign provides you with an easy way to help.
12
Connecticut State employees like you have a proven record of providing assistance. YOU, too, have the opportunity to be part of the solution.
13
The 2012 State Employees’ Campaign provides help for CT and Beyond. © Hundreds of worthy agencies count on your contributions in Connecticut and in locations throughout the world.
14
So, what is the CSEC? CSEC (Connecticut State Employees’ Campaign) is the name of the ONLY charitable giving program authorized for payroll deduction for state workers. Directed by a committee of appointed state employees, the Campaign is governed by State Regulations.
15
How does a charity become part of the CSEC? Each charity that participates in the Campaign undergoes a rigorous screening process by the Committee. Only charities that meet the requirements specified by the regulations are approved to participate.
16
The campaign is your once a year chance to contribute to non-profit local, national & international charities. You encourage others to “do the right thing.” Personal satisfaction, knowing that you have helped others. Why should I give?
17
You can make a change for the better by choosing causes that are close to your heart. You can rescue an animal, enrich a child’s life, help end suffering, save a tree, prevent an illness, keep someone warm…see the Directory for more ideas. Why should I give?
18
You can take advantage of the easy payroll deduction method or you can give a one-time gift. For as little as $1 per pay period, or as little as about 7 cents a day, you can help people in CT & throughout the world. What should I give?
19
You can be participate for as little as $1 per pay period. For the price of a cup of coffee a week, you can be part of an initiative that contributes to the greater good. Wouldn’t you be willing to give up a cup of coffee to help someone else? How much would I need to give to participate?
20
Last year, 40 employees (7%) gave: $18,324 Thank you! What people from DAS contributed in 2011.
21
Your tax deductible gift goes SPECIFICALLY to the charity you designate so that it goes where you want, in your own community. You can designate to as many charities listed in the 2012 Directory as you wish. What are the benefits of participation? If you contribute through the Campaign, you can be confident that :
22
We can safely say that one of the charities included in the Directory touches you or your loved ones. Funds benefit some of the following areas : What types of charities are there? Health & Wellness Disease prevention & research Environmental & conservation Animals & pets Education & sports Music & the arts Food pantries International humanitarian organizations
23
American Friends of Kenya Red Cross St. Jude’s Sickle Cell Association Food Share Hartford Stage EasterSeals Make-A-Wish Literacy Volunteers HARC, Inc. The Nature Conservancy Girl Scouts Save the Bay Jewish Family Services American School for the Deaf … and so many more… Who are some of the specific charities, for example?
24
Last year, the Campaign’s grand total was $1,508,110. This year, despite the struggling economy, we’d like to reach that same amount. With your help, we can exceed it! What was given in the past? What is the goal?
25
