5 WestEd.org Learning and Development Foundations Curriculum Frameworks Infant/Toddler Curriculum Framework Preschool Curriculum Framework Volume 1 Preschool Curriculum Framework Volume 2 Preschool Curriculum Framework Volume 3 - to be released These resources offer guidance for early childhood educators to plan experiences and instructional activities for young children. These documents describe the knowledge and skills young children develop and learn through child-initiated play and teacher-guided experiences and environments. An integrated approach to planning learning environments, interactions, and strategies is presented to support young children’s development and learning.

These resources outline these competencies from birth to age 5.

7 WestEd.org Professional Development Program for Infant Toddler Care (PITC) California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN) Faculty Initiative Project (FIP) California Early Childhood Mentor Program (CECMP) Child Development Training Consortium (CDTC) Includes pre-service education and training that teachers and administrators receive in institutions of higher education, and in-service and continuing education programs that early childhood professionals pursue to continuously increase their knowledge and skills.

8 WestEd.org Desired Results Assessment System Desired Results Development Profile - Infant/Toddler© (2010) Desired Results Development Profile - Preschool© (2010) Desired Results Development Profile - School Age© (2010) Desired Results Development Profile - Access Reliable, strength-based tool teachers use to observe and document children’s learning and development, from birth through preschool. This tool points out observable aspects of development and provides a means to document actual progress a child is making in her learning and development. The assessment results are intended to be used by the teacher to plan curriculum for individual children and groups of children to guide continuous improvement.
