Question 9: What is the work of creation? Answer: The work of creation is God making all things from nothing, by the word of his power, in the space of six days, all very good.

Reality At the foundation of all our thinking is the certainty that ourselves and the universe we live in are real! One of the greatest questions we face is: Where did we, and the universe we live in, come from? Atheists believe that the origin of all things is in impersonal matter and energy and impersonal fundamental laws of physics. Christians believe that humanity and the universe originated as a result of an eternally personal God. Christians trust God to tell us the truth about our origins ‘Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.’ Hebrews 11:3

The New Testament makes it clear the Son of God was actively involved in every aspect of creation. ‘The Word was with God and the Word was God….All things were made through him, and without him nothing was made that was made.’ John 1:1,3 ‘By him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities or powers.’ Col 1:16 ‘The Word was with God and the Word was God….All things were made through him, and without him nothing was made that was made.’ John 1:1,3 ‘By him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities or powers.’ Col 1:16

The Word was made flesh! The Word, who is the Son of God, created all things. The Word is the one who has become fully human and is forever a creature as well as the Creator. When we put our trust in Jesus Christ we are ‘committing our souls to our faithful creator’! (1 Peter 4:19) The Word, who is the Son of God, created all things.
