Consensus Hunt Game Click here to continue Click here to continue
2
The Game Idea The game consists of a decision-tree presentation with inter-linked slides directing the user from the conflict definition through various action decisions, each with a subsequent outcome, in order to reach the best solution to the situation. There is only one correct path through the decision tree; only one set of decisions will lead the user to the desired outcome. The recommended player age range is from 12-16 years. Players form teams and work together to make consensual decisions through the game. Click here to continue Click here to continue
3
Developer Rules In order to develop the game for use in a local community, game developers should follow the following steps: Develop a suitable issue from everyday life, and understand how it impacts the local community. Introduce a story element into the situation, involving a conflict situation that needs to be resolved. Understand the various responses that the community could have to this situation, and their outcomes. Click here to continue Click here to continue
4
Developer Rules (cont…) Developer Rules (cont…) Develop a story hierarchy for the situation, based on three levels of decisions and outcomes with related pictures clarifying each situation. The three decision options must be equally probable from the perspective of the player. Develop three decision alternatives for each level. As a result, 27 distinct decision possibilities will be developed. The decision scenarios will be placed within a slide structure, with each slide leading to three suggested alternatives. By clicking the user follows through the decision tree to the selected outcome, which in turn leads to three more possibilities, and so on, through three levels. 5
By clicking on each one of the three options, a clarification slide will show explaining the situation details with additional photos. At the bottom of the clarification slide is posted a link to continue the hierarchy with a new three options. Once the end is reached, the player is either congratulated on attaining the correct outcome, or the player’s mistake is described in a separate slide, and the player is invited to try again. A ‘Replay’ link allows him to start once again from the game beginning. Developer Rules (cont…) Developer Rules (cont…) Click here to continue Click here to continue
6
Only one of the 27 outcomes is determined as ‘correct’. Every decision made (throughout the game’s three levels) has to form a complete logical story by itself. In order to keep the game as a one way progressive presentation, the developer must remove the built-in moving tabs from the slide show. (Tools -> Options -> View -> Show pop up toolbar). Thus, the links remain the only way to move through out the presentation. Developer Rules (cont…) Developer Rules (cont…) Click here to continue Click here to continue

The following storyboard template has been created to aid developer teams as they put together their individual presentations. The text and decision tree architecture identified by developers can simply be inserted into the pre-existing template in order to for it to function as a game. Introduction Click here to continue Click here to continue This is where you write the introduction to your game that should be clear and concise but not condescending. Your story should be introduced and put in context using the maximum emotion without it being too wordy. You should promote a curiosity factor so that people want to continue playing and it should be challenging enough so that people make an effort. But setting the standard too high discourages people and they lose interest in the game or the challenge. Each slide should be easy to understand, but should also present a possibility for resolving the situation. Too much text bores people; the challenge is to explain sufficiently while keeping it short and simple.
10
Continuation Click here to continue Click here to continue If you decide to have a second page it should present the player with enough enticing information to interest them. Beware of being too verbose, including a lot of words without meaning or very few words that do not make the idea clear. Most of all, the objectives should be clear.
11
The Conflict The developer should identify the conflict distilled from the previous introduction in a clear sentence with photos reflecting the case exactly. Click here to continue Click here to continue
