Fighting a cab/engine fire Turn off the vehicle’s engine Don’t panic Disconnect battery cables (if it can be done safely in event of electrical fire) 3a

Fighting a tire fire Don’t panic Remove the hot tire (if it can be done safely) from the vehicle Use water to extinguish flames 4

Fighting a cargo fire Call for professional help, cargo fires are often too big to fight Don’t open the doors if there’s smoke until the vehicle is in a safe place and help has arrived 5a

Fighting a cargo fire Disconnect the tractor from the trailer (if possible) Move the tractor to a safe place away from the fire Know what type of cargo is in the trailer 5b

Classes of fires Class A: Combustible materials (wood, cloth, paper) Class B: Flammable liquid, gasses, grease Class C: Electrical Class D: Combustible metal 7b
