Definition & Statistics What is Lung Cancer? Lung Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells that start off in one or both lungs; usually in the cells that line the air passages.

Facts & figures Lung cancer causes more deaths than any other cancer. About 9,200 people are diagnosed with lung cancer. Lung cancer is most commonly diagnosed in people 65 to 79 years old.
