Guardmaster Safety Relays
RA Safety Relays MSR – Minotaur Safety Relay MSR6 – Rockwell Automation’s first electromechanical safety relay series MSR100 – 2nd generation of electromechanical relays MSR30 – Rockwell Automation’s first solid state safety relay family MSR200 – modular safety relay series MSR300 – modular configurable relay series Next Gen Guardmaster Safety Relay – Compact family of Logic Configured Compatible Relays (Fewer part numbers can replace a broader range of legacy products) 1990s 2002 2003 2004 2005 2011 The first 3 families on this timeline were all single function relays. Any special configuration settings were done through jumpes (such as distinguishing between auto or manual resets) The introduction of the MSR200 family allowed monitoring of individual input circuits but all controlling a single zone The MSR300 family introduced logic (Orings) functionality through rotary switches. The GSR family takes all of the functionality of these previous and combines them into one platform Guardmaster Safety Relays MSR6 MSR100 MSR30 MSR200 MSR300

Next Generation Safety Relays Concept & Innovations
Universal Input – automatic input type detection A single catalog number to support all types of safety components e-stops switches mats light curtains 6 part numbers will cover a majority of safety applications with consistent wiring. Dual Input = 2 safety inputs each two channels Twice the functionality of a single input dual channel relay in a 22.5mm housing. Reduced wiring for commissioning and multiple inputs can have logic configured simply in a single relay. N/C type, 24VDC OSSD type Single-Wire Safety Connection – maintains PL e, SIL 3 (Single Chanel Safety Input) TÜV approved concept of one-wire connection to expand and cascade safety functions to SIL3 Simplifies wiring Increases number of I/O on terminal Maintains PLe , SIL3 rating Dynamic signal 4 main technologies that we believe differentiate this product (3 of which are patented) Universal Inputs: In the past you would require jumpers or rotary switches to distinguish between the inputs of a dry contact safety device vs. The OSSDs of say a light curtain. We are able to automatically detect the type of device attached to the relay. SWS: A single wire to expand and cascade safety functions between relays. (if asked about dual channel, the 0V common is the second channel: must share common with the other relay). Single Rotary Switch: Unlike the MSR300 which has two rotary switches for configuring a function we only use one. We can do this with two mechanisms, the LEDs which serve as indication of the configuration and the procedures that must be followed to process a new configuration. Dual Input: 2 2 channel safety devices monitored by a single relay, Just 1 DI to replace 2 MSR127s Single Rotary Switch – setting of Logic Functions, Reset, Timing TÜV approved concept to eliminate double switches. Unique validation method. Expedite configuration Single device can address a broader range of reset modes, time delays, etc. SWS Scalable platform to address single- and multi-zone applications for a variety of standard and special functional requirements 8

Configuration Selectable functions
4 Logic conditions for safety inputs and the Single Wire Safety input (L12) Reset modes – automatic/manual and manual monitored reset Timing configuration (EMD) – Time needs to be configured before operation. Easy to configure: Set Device to “0” Power Up device. Relay is now in configuration mode Turn rotary switch to desired logic & reset value (see table). Power LED will glow green and Input 1 LED will provide feedback of position. Cycle power to lock in configuration. Relay maintains setting until configuration process is repeated. Single input devices only need reset mode configured Dual input devices configure logic between inputs and reset mode. Time delay expansion modules configure output type and time delay.

Guardmaster® 440C-CR30 Safety Relay Single Wire Safety Support
Supports Single Wire Safety for easy integration of GSR relays: Add Safety Relay Outputs Add multiple dry contact outputs by using GSR EM (Expansion module) while only consuming a single safety output configured for Single Wire Safety Connect Upstream GSR Relays Expand inputs and functionality using GSR relays by connection through Single Wire Safety The third key feature is the support of Single Wire Safety, a PLe / SIL 3 rated signal for indicating safety status to another device. The GSR family of hardware configurable safety relays also feature SWS, and thus can be used with the CR30 as a methodology for expanding safety I/O. As an example, if you need safety rated dry contact outputs (instead of the embedded solid state outputs), the CR30 can use a single safety output, configured as SWS, to control a GSR EM (Expansion Module) with four sets of dry contact (relay) outputs. The CR30 can have up to two SWS inputs and up to two SWS outputs.
22
Guardmaster 440C-CR30 Safety Relay Single Wire Safety Support
Supports Single Wire Safety for easy interlocking of CR30s: Global E-Stop with Cascaded SWS Cascade a Single Wire Safety signal to up to ten CR30s to create a global E-Stop without the need of a complicated safety network SWS SWS . . . Up to 10 off a single SWS Output The Single Wire Safety feature can also be used to extend a safety function to multiple safety relays. Take this application example where three CR30s can be zoned together using a single wire safety connection. The leftmost CR30 monitors the Emergency stop pushbutton that drives an output configured for Single wire Safety. This Output is wired in parallel to multiple CR30s (up to 10 at a maximum of 30m distance). When the Estop drops out, the Single Wire Safety signal goes LO. The CR30s monitoring that SWS signal at one of their inputs that support SWS can be configured to drop out their relevant outputs when that SWS signal is lost. Zone 1 30m max

Guardmaster® 440C-CR30 Safety Relay 2080 Plug in Support
2080-IQ4OB4 plug-in for expansion I/O Standard Input Expansion: Use standard inputs for standard signals such as circuit resets, feedback monitoring or muting sensors Standard Diagnostics: Land auxiliary contacts of series wired safety devices and share with PanelView™ Component terminals Use standard outputs to drive indicator LEDs or send gate unlock commands Reset Muting Sensors Feedback Monitoring Safety Status The second key feature is the support of up to two standard plug-in with four inputs and four outputs. These additional I/O can be used for signals in the safety circuit that do not need to be safety rated, such as reset, feedback monitoring, muting sensors, and auxiliary outputs, thus saving the safety I/O for signals that actually require a safety rating. Altogether we can add 16 standard I/O without expanding the 110mm footprint of the device. Individual Door Status Expansion I/O with no impact to panel footprint
