PRONOUNS Pronouns are words that take the place of nouns. Singular pronouns take the place of singular nouns. Plural pronouns take the place of plural nouns.

WHAT IS A NOUN? A noun is a person, place, thing, or an idea. A noun can be singular or plural.

SINGULAR PRONOUN EXAMPLE George and Cheryl are at work. is changed to George and I are at work.

SINGULAR PRONOUN EXAMPLE Mr. Michael is the principal. is changed to He is the principal.

SINGULAR PRONOUN EXAMPLE Mrs. Bell likes to sing. is changed to She likes to sing.

SINGULAR PRONOUN EXAMPLE The truck belongs to Colin. is changed to The truck belongs to him.

SINGULAR PRONOUN EXAMPLE The purse belongs to Sara. is changed to The purse belongs to her.

SINGULAR PRONOUN EXAMPLE Grady likes to play football. is changed to Grady likes to play it.

PLURAL PRONOUN EXAMPLE Mrs. Hamilton’s class is going on a field trip. is changed to We are going on a field trip.

PLURAL PRONOUN EXAMPLE Would you like to eat lunch with the third grade teachers? is changed to Would you like to eat lunch with us?
